With the launch of the new iPhone, Apple has made quite a bold decisions to discontinue some of the technology and devices out from their production line. Here are 3 things Apple kills recently.
Small form factor and true budget iPhone.
At the time of the event, Apple quietly killed one of the best and cheapest iPhone available, the iPhone SE. iPhone SE was Apple’s last 4-inch phone with a form factor similar to their previous flagship devices, the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s but with an internal of the iPhone 6s. It is quite a decision by apple to kill entirely the most affordable and the smallest iPhone in their lineup. Starting at $350, the iPhone SE is the true budget smartphone at launch compared to the latest “budget” iPhone XR which starts at $749. The iPhone SE isn’t just a budget smartphone, it reaches also reaches the audience who didn’t want to buy a large screen iPhone.
Apple is betting their full trust on Face ID as can be seen on all their latest devices. None of them features the touch ID. It was rumored that Apple may have under-display Touch ID on works but it has yet to be confirmed. At the moment Face ID has received quite an improvement with the introduction of Apple’s A12 processor introducing their newly and improved significantly neural network. It was also reported that Face ID works faster and can recognize better features on the new iPhones. Touch ID was introduced in 2013 with the launch of their previous flagship, the iPhone 5s and up until 2017 apple has made it available until yesteryear’s iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Lightning to 3.5mm adapter.
Apple really hates cables, the new iPhone did not include a 3.5mm jack adapter. Apple is really pushing towards a wireless connectivity. If you own any headphones that features a physical 3.5mm jack, well you will have to fork out some dollars on their store to buy the adapter. It was not a smart move by apple since the new iPhone cost a quite a figure, they could have just included it in the box. But then again, apple is known to make such move with their product.
With all the hype behind the recent launch and the rumors that are surfacing, we can only guess what is Apple next move.Their newest product sure does attract a large number of users willing to stand in line outside of their stores to get their hands-on on the latest release of iPhone.
